What Causes Hardness On Prominentia Laryngea?

on my Adam's apple in the part where you can put a finger and feel the hard bit just above thst is quite tender to poke and if I sneeze , strain ie at the toilet or even pass wind( burping ) it is quite uncomfortable but only for a couple of seconds
Generally it's not sore but it's becoming more noticeable
