What Causes Headache And Sinus Congestion?

Hi, hope you can help me. I have been having headaches on and off for about a year now and have also had sinus issues, every morning I wake up and most of the day I have a heavy head feeling, pressure at neck, back of head,round the nose area and front ot head. It has just come to my doctors attention that my blood pressure was 158/92 last week and has been up for about 3 months. I am now on blood pressure tablets for it, I am on day 5 but still have a headache. how long will it take for the med to kick in? Also does is sound like I have a sinus issue which is making my headaches worse? Would you recommend a sinus xray?
