What Causes Headache When Fever Spikes?

My wife has been getting a fever every day around 2:00 pm, then it goes away, comes back the next day like clock-work. No other symptoms, except occasional headache when fever spikes, around 100.2 . This has been going on for 2-3 weeks. Keep thinking light flu or virus, all websites just say "ride it out" ?
