What Causes Heaviness In Eyelids?

What could possibly be the reason for such heavy eye lids that I am unable to keep my eyes open at all? It s embarrassing the will close in the middle of a conversation with someone or just at the most inappropriate time? Yes sometimes I can be tired but other times I am not.
