What Causes Heavy Bleeding After Cervical Ectopy Cauterization?

I had a cervical ectopy cauterization two weeks ago. I was not informed to not use tampons/ or have sex and as the initial bleeding had disappeared I have done both. But now I find I am having bright red bleeding and I ache around my abdomen. It is very hard for me to see a GP as they are very busy and I can't get in to see the specialist for another two weeks. Do I need to have it checked out?
