What Causes Heavy Bleeding After Inserting Clotrimazole Pessaries?

Hi, I was prescribed clotrimazole pessary by my doctor and inserted last night. I am now bleeding quite heavily, the blood smells and it is not my period as I finished my period a week and a half ago. I have cells outside of my cervix apparantly which are bleeding slightly. is it linked?
