What Causes Heavy Bleeding,gel Like Discharge And Cramps During Periods?

I stared my reg monthly period nov 10th the period got worse over the corsece of the month I thought it was normal at first then I ended up having jelly like substances for my period I ended up taking myself to the hospital dec 29th they ended up having to admit me to the hospital because i was anemic and I had lost alot of blood I had to get 3 units of blood given to me. I got released from the hospital they have me some hormone meds and some birth control and ib pro-fen and some vitem c I thought the hormone med was working to stop my bleeding but the dr only gave me 10 days worth now I have been bleeding heaver this week with alot of cramps I told the dr about the situation he says I have not given the other meds time to work ive been taking it since dec 30th
