What Causes Heavy Bright Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse?

I have been to the ER once before for heavy bright red bleeding two days after intercourse. Nothing out of the ordinary. Plenty of lube and not rough. I had a broken blood vessel that was cauterized. I am 49 and going through menopause. I am now bleeding again. Same systems just not as heavy. If i don't put anything in it for the next 7 days will it take care of itself. Is there something preventative that I can do during menopause. Obviously everything dries out except my ability to sweat.
