What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding After A Colposcopy?

I had a colposcopy 4 days ago and had no bleeding, spotting, or pain. Starting about 12 hours ago I have had heavy bleeding and passing clots, the smallest being golf ball sized. I am going through sanitary pads in minutes, should I be concerned? Should I go to the E.R.
