What Causes Heel Spots With Discolored Ankles?

Helllo, I am 32yrs old and recently had knee surgery and developed DVT's in my lower calf. I just noticed that I have brownish spots on my heels and ankles looks like I haven't washed my feet good. I asked my doctor and he said it was fungus however, I am not to convinced it is that. What do you think?
