What Causes High WBC Count After Hemorrhage Of Ovarian Cyst?
I went to the emergency room after experiencing terrible pain in my abdomen. It was in my lower abdomen and pelvis and wrapping around my right side to my back. It was so bad at first that I couldn't move or sit up. The pain went down enough for me to get to the car and my sons father took me to the hospital. It turned out I had a hemorrhaging 4inch ovarian cyst on my right ovary. It was removed by emergency surgery. It was laproscopic surgery. I lost some blood but luckily I didn't have to get a transfusion. Before they knew what was wrong with me they did a blood test and found out that my white blood cell count was three times as high as it should be. They told me I had a very bad infection somewhere in my body and that due to the fact that my WBC count was so high I had to be admitted. First they thought it was a urinary infection, then my appendix. Finally they did a CT scan and a external and internal sonogram and determined I was hemorrhaging. The blood was pooling in my abdominal cavity. After surgery they sent the cyst to the oncology lab to be tested for cancer. The results are not back yet and I'm really worried. I am 26 years old and have a fifteen month old. I can't leave my child with out a mother. I just had surgery six days ago. Can you tell me what are the causes of high white blood cell counts in this type of situation?
