What Causes Hoarse Voice Along With Tickling At The Back Of Throat?

Over the past week, I have had first a sore throat (x 2-3 days), then head cold symptoms including some mild nasal congestion and runny nose....then a couple days of laryngitis....now a hacky cough and tickle at back of throat that continues to bother me....now at day 8, and noticed 5 very distinct vertical red, raised striations at back of throat. Is this typical of viral etiology?....I am surprised my throat and cough are not improving more quickly...driving my family crazy with the bothersome cough that anti-tussives don t seem to be helping. Thoughts?
