What Causes Hyper Pigmentation In Upper Thigh Area?

I am a 54 year old caucasian female with a small area of hyperpigmentation on the upper inner thighs. I have never been obese, have no health concerns, and do not take any medications. Is this simply an age related issue and would a product like Porcelana be an effective treatment?
