What Causes Impaired Hearing And Swelling In Neck?

my son was having trouble hearing out of his left ear, I called the family doctor and they told me to go to walmart and buy an ear cleaner, I did that, now one week later he still cant hear and his neck is swallon right below his ear, I am very worried, should I take him to the er?
