What Causes Increase In BP Readings?

I took my blood pressure med this morning and wanted to start a diary of my blood pressure for a week or so-the first reading was 168 over 95 heart rate 72 I tried to take it several times later and I cannot get a reading it just says EE I was wondering if I should take another blood pressure pill this evening
