What Causes Increased Swelling In Eye While On Medication For Infected Tear Duct?

My adult daughter (35) has an infected blocked tear duct. She went to the doctor s today and got an antibiotic prescription, drops, etc. However, tonight her eye is more swollen and more painful than this morning. Is this normal to feel worse before better?
