What Causes Increasing Tail Bone Pain And Mild Fever?

My daughter has had progressively increasing tail bone pain for the last 5 days. This morning she woke up with a low grade fever. She had X-rays taken and nothing unusual showed up, but was scheduled for a bone scan next week. Can the fever be associated with the tail bone pain?
