What Causes Infected Hair Growth Around Vagina?

I keep getting infected hairs around the outside of my vagina, I put a hot compress on them and they go away. Then every once in awhile they come back. They hurt and sometimes i can squeeze them and pus comes out and they go away. What can I do to prevent them from ever coming back
