What Causes Inflammation At IV Injection Site After Applying Thrombophob?

I had low platelet count of 59k - I was treated in hospital for 2 days - now it has changed to 73k and then to 71k. hemoglobin 12.6, eosinophil 0.7%, basophil 0.3%. Today when I applied Thrombophob 20g ointment at the site where I was given IV - instantly skin turned read on a large patch. Is this a serious problem?
