What Causes Insomnia With Or Without Provigil?

I have been functioning normally taking one modafinil 200mg per day. I cannot get the generic with my RX so I am now taking one Provigil 200mg per day. I would think this would be the same or maybe better but instead I am not noticing much of a difference between taking the pill or taking nothing. Why?
