What Causes Inter Menstrual Bleeding?

hi i am 19 years old and my period isn t due till the 20th of this month but ibe been bleeding on and off since the first. like one day i bleed for a couple of hours then it stops and then when i wake up in the morning i bleed heavy then it goes away. i dont have pain or anything and im scared
