What Causes Intermittent Menstruation Along With Light Vaginal Bleeding?

I'm a 27 year old. My period only lasted 3 days and it was very light. 4 days later it returns and its still very light but it come and goes. Should I be worried? I've taken a pregnancy test and its negative. Although I have irregular cycles, Im just scared that something is wrong!
