What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pain In Groin?

Hello I keep getting an intermittent extremely sharp pain in my left groin area, adjacent to my ASIS! It has no relation to my cycle or bowel habits! It can happen 4 times a day then nothing for a month, yet also several times a day for 3 weeks. Just wondered if it is likely to be a niggly appendix, ovarian cyst it anything else? Should I consult my GP?
