What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pains Under The Breast?

for the past two days i have been having sharp pains on and off just under my left breast closer to the top. some times it only last a few seconds and once it lasted a few minutes.
should i be alarmed or just go to see my doctor? wasn't sure if i should go to emergency.
