What Causes Internal Bleeding After A C-section Delivery?

Hi had my first c-section done and I had internal bleeding after they take me to recovery room .because of the broad ligament was bleeding I end up having hysterectomy so is that a normal thing please help me.my doctor told me that it happens is that true ?please help me.
