What Causes Involuntary Jerks In Neck?

I am 46 years old and for the past five years i have had what i call a tick in my neck. When i drink through a straw is when the symptoms are the worst. My neck jurks up and down uncontrollably. I have noticed that it is starting to occur when i am just standing and talking to someone.
