What Causes Involuntary Tearing Of Eye Along With Sharp Piercing Pain?

Hi, last November I woke abruptly with my eye squirting tears, a sharp pain in my eye, as if a metal rod was entering my eye and piercing the back of my skull. My vison was a little blurry. Hubby took me to hosiptal: they did a CT sccan (normal), check my eye s and eye pressure and declared I had migrains and referred to my GP. She s sending me to an ophtalmologist. What could be wrong?
