What Causes Irregular Bleeding?

Hi, im 19 years old and had a baby 15 weeks ago. Since then I have been having irregular bleeding and have been coming on 10 days before my due date. I have constantly got pains in the left side of my stomach, under the rib cage and lower down near my pelvis. Im being sent for swabs tomorrow but im not sure what it could be or what the tests are for?
