What Causes Irregular Menstruation And Cramps Post Birth Control Pills?

Hi. I am on birth control and had my period at the normal time I should've gotten it. After a week of starting my new pack of pills I have horrible cramps as if I'm getting my period again and don't know why. I have been on the pill for 4 years now and never experienced this before.
