What Causes Irregular/multiple Periods And Pelvic Pain With Abnormal Smear Test?

I have had a smear test showing abnormal cells. My gp is not referring me for a colposcopy as he maintains it's just a viral infection. I have symptoms related to cervical cancer such as irregular bleeding , extra periods each month, pelvic pain and tiredness. Should I insist on a referral or wait and hope for the best
