What Causes Irregular Periods While On Contraceptive Pills?

Hi i cant remember when i lasthad my period i was on the pill but i stopped because my periods became irregular and i wanted to get my periods back to normal to start taking my pill, i have done 2 pregnancy test and both were negative what other reasons could there be for me not to have had a period
