What Causes Irregular Periods With Spotting, Weight Gain And Mood Swings?

my periods have been really irregular lately its not even like a period its more like spotting i have taken multiple pregnancy test and all came out negative. i have gain around 10 to 15 pounds and my mood swings are off the charts. could i really be pregnant even with the tests saying no?
