What Causes Irregular Periods?

I used to take Norethisterine (Primolut N) tablets since i was 14 when I was travelling to hold my period. Since I was 18, I period became irregular. For the last 3-4 years, I have stopped taking these medicine but my period was still irregular sometimes (not always). I was diagnosed with no hormonal problems.
I am now 24.
In last 2 years, I got my period every month when last summer, I was diagnosed with ovarian cyst. My doctor told me it would be gone.
From February, I didn't have my period. This month I had spotting form June 12-18 and then heavy flow started. Its been 6days of my heavy flow
