What Causes Irritating Lump On Anus?

hi, my husband had a hard small purple lump about the size of a marble on his anus he has complained of irritation and pain for a couple days and he refuses to seek medical attention I'm very worried and i told him even it turns out nothing at least we know please give me some advice :(
