What Causes Irritating Mole On The Back Of Head?

Hi I have a mole on the back of my head around 1cm in diameter and raised by 0.5 cm. it has been present for a number of years but has recently begun to irritate. For the last 3days it has been causing a dull ache in the back left side of my head. Any ideas on what this could be and the best options available
