What Causes Irritation In Throat, Skin Tag On Tongue And Cough?

Hell Doctor, I have just noticed a small white skin tag on the top, right side of my tongue and I have had an irritating back of the throat cough for several weeks but my GP said it was a side effect of a cold that I had some months ago. Should I be worried?.
