What Causes Itching And An Outgrowth From Anus?

I am having anal itching and I can feel a small outgrowth from my anus about 5 mm by 5 mm which feels tender. Is it piles or something else. It has been almost 5 months. I used lidocaine but was not useful. The itching sometimes becomes unbearable. Should I consult a general physician or some other specialist?
