What Causes Itching And Dryness On Face?

I have been on holiday and started getting an itchy dry irritated face covered in spots. On my return home this morning my face and eyes have completely swollen and is really itchy. I have used some bio gel to try and reduce the dyness and itchiness. My whole face looks like some kind of puffer fish experience. help!.
I am 41, of slightly above average weight (5'4' and 11st8lbs)
