What Causes Itching In The Nipples?

Hello, i am a 62 years old male, 280 lbs, 5 -8 . It is about 3 weeks that I have itching on my right nipple. It feels like it is dry skin, but it does not look dry. I do like to see a physician, should I see a dermatologist or my general practitioner? Could this be a serious issue or could it simply be due to dry winter weather? Thank you for your respond.
