What Causes Itching In The Soles Of My Feet?

My daughter is scratching the soles of her foot and between her toes. She is 9. This happening mainly at night. There is no rash; no redness; no swelling or discoloration. What could it be? The itching is intense, to where she has scratched herself and left marks.
