What Causes Itching In Throat After A Septoplasty?

I had a septoplasty 10 days ago and have noticed today my throat itching like the very beginning of a sore throat/cold. The Dr.s office is closed for the day, I m wondering if there is something I should do to try to head off a cold/flu given my sinus are still healing in the short term? Ie, Benedryl?
