What Causes Itching Skin Rashes?

I started with a rash on my chest, back & rear that turned into a rash that looked like sunburn. I've had it for over 2 weeks. The redness has gone away but it still itches. I'm now starting to itch on both arms with kind of a burning, stabbing pain. What is it?
