What Causes Itchy Feeling On Chest While Coughing?

My airways in my chest feel itchy, especially when I cough. We laugh a lot in our home, and for the past year that always causes me to wheeze and cough. My dr. prescribed and Advair inhaler last year when I had a cold. I do not like to take medicine, but I find myself reaching for the advair more and more frequently. Does this mean I have developed asthma?
