What Causes Itchy Labia At Night?

My outer labia becomes very itchy especially at night. I don't notice the itch until I undress. I can feel bumps but can't see them well. The skin looks thickened and paler than the skin surrounding it. This is only on the edge of my outer labia where the hair grows. This started about five weeks ago with a bump I thought was an ingrown hair. It does not look like herpes nor does it match the symptoms I have read online but I am worried.
