What Causes Itchy Rashes In Upper Torso Radiating Towards Thighs?

I have had a rash on my upper torso that has traveled down to my upper thighs in less than a week. The rash is not very itchy and has disappeared from my upper torso as it has traveled down my body. It started a day after I had visited a very sick relative in the hospital (not contagious). I have had additional stress going on and I have taken an over the counter antihistamine with no relief. I would appreciate any suggestions to what I can do about it, also could this be contagious? Thank you
