What Causes Itchy Rashes On Taking Antibiotics For Tooth Extraction?

Hi I recently had a tooth extraction my wisdom tooth. The doc prescribed me 250gm tetracycline 4 times a day over a 6 hour period. I started on friday and this morning i broke out into itchy rashes. Is this hives? I have stopped taking the antibiotic. Is it something serious I need to worry about? Please advise. Thanks.
