What Causes Itchy, Rashes Under Eye?

I have a rash under my one right eye, it started out as a small dry itchy patch...it has now spread and is now up to my eyelid....puffy, itchy, burns, and is dry. I made an appt with my dr but was hoping I could figure out what it is in the mean time...maybe some tips on how to heal it
