What Causes Jerking Sensation In Body?

my husband is experencing body jerking. It's affecting his speech, also it's mostly in his upper body. His ppo doctor has ruled out parkinson and has him on sinemet but it is not working. what else could be causing this. he has also seen a neurologist who said it could be caused by stress. what do you think
