What Causes Large Chunks Of Skin During Periods?

MY past two periods I've been noticing in passing large chunks of skin. I found it quite alarming. From what I've read it's normal and happens more on the pill. But is it really normal? or should I talk to my doctor? Is it normal to do this on multiple periods? I stopped taking my pill because it recently started giving me headaches. IS this related?
