What Causes Laryngitis Intermittently?

Every time I go over to my friends house I leave without a voice, it literally only takes a few hours. It doesnt seem to effect anyone else in my family just me. I come home and end up going to the doctor who puts me on an antibiotic for a few weeks. Or at least until I go back, then it starts all over again. We always eat pasta... could it be in the parmesan cheeze or the water somehow?
